Embark on a treasure hunt you won’t soon forget at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show 2018. It takes place on January 26 through February 11th, 2018 in beautiful Tucson, Arizona.(GL&W HOLIDOME SHOW) At the beginning of each year, Tucson houses this international mineral and gem trading fest. Experience the History of the Show
What started out as a small group of rock hounds and mineral collectors back in 1955 has grown into a large showcase of gems for enthusiasts and collectors from around the globe. You can find the best minerals, jewelry, gems, fossils and lapidary dealers from all over the world. Items from renowned museums and private collections are also on display.
The first exhibition took place at an elementary school in town and was open to the general public. It was an immediate hit, which is what prompted the organizers to make it a regular event. In 1956, the show was held at rodeo grounds. It stayed here until 1972. It eventually made its way to its current location where countless people can come out and enjoy it each year.
Quality Gems and Minerals on Display
The Tucson Gem and Mineral Show are well-known for bringing in gems, fossil displays and minerals from major museums everywhere. Every year the show designates a theme mineral to generate interest. Because of the amount of interest generated, satellite shows ended up popping up everywhere. One of the best segments of these shows is that of beads for you to take home and enjoy.

The Tucson show includes 40+ shows at dozens of different locations around town. You can visit the exhibit tents, hotels, halls and sprawling venues all around the area. Every year the mix changes, so you never know what the event is going to hold in store for you. The majority of the shows are open to everyone and don’t cost you a thing to attend. Not only does that mean you don’t have to spend a bunch of money on this event, but you can enjoy checking out multiple events all rolled into one amazing show.

Every year for about 2.5 weeks in January and February — the rock, gem, mineral and jewelry worlds cosmically align in Tucson. Researchers, gemologists, authors, artists, miners and nearly 4,000 trade companies gather here from every continent to share their treasures, knowledge and expertise with the show’s tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of attendees. Earth’s gem and mineral riches are on display at over 40 venues unfurled all over town, for sale in huge circus tents, expo halls, hotels, warehouses, and in the city’s fine Convention Center. Every type of polished and rough rock and fossil specimen and every kind of faceted jewel that you can imagine is being peddled everywhere — on blankets on sidewalks or in sophisticated exhibits brought in by the world’s finest museums and collectors. All of the shows are free except the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show® held at the Convention Center. Indeed, Tucson hosts the Giant of all Gem Shows, the largest of its kind in the universe.

2018 Shuttle Routes to Tucson Shows
There are three FREE parking hubs and no fewer than 13 shuttles operating during the 2018 Tucson Gem & Mineral Showcase to transport show-goers from show to show. These 13 routes are listed below. The first section of shuttle routes (eight in all) are operated by a Tucson company called MS Transportation; the JCK show at the Starr Pass Marriott operates their own shuttle that runs between JCK and AGTA at the Convention Center; and the remaining four routes, known as the GemRide routes, are operated by the City of Tucson Department of Transportation.
