Cultivate Deep Respect for Mother Earth

The Wolf Moon also brings another interesting astrological movement— Uranus moves into Taurus. This pairing can mean a few things, but most expert astrologers conjecture that it means we will experience some extreme weather events in 2018 that will likely be sudden and unexpected. On a more energetic level, Uranus in Taurus also brings our connection to nature into awareness. Taurus has to do with agriculture, food distribution, and finances, so look for lots of innovation and growth in this space. On a more personal level, we may also experience a distorting of technology and ourselves. How have cell phones and addictive apps impacted human connection, mental health, and physical health? While you may already feel the effects of this in your life, this theme will be explored more in 2018. With it hopefully comes to a renaissance of getting dirty in nature and understanding how plants can heal the mind, body, and soul.

Even if it’s cold in your part of the world, get outside to see this supermoon if you can. Trust me, seeing it even if only for a brief moment, will be worth it. Smudging and cleansing your body with sage is an aromatic ritual likened to taking an energetic shower.

How-To: Once outside, burn a sage or palo santo smudge stick. Feel free to spray a pine or peppermint hydrosol on your face while repeating the affirmation, “I am open to and worthy of abundance. I am open to the Universe. I am one with the Universe.”

Be Impeccable with Your Word

Perhaps not so ironically, the astrology of this full moon is ideal for tackling those new year’s resolutions. Now is the time to make radical and brave decisions due to the action-oriented energy from Saturn moving into Capricorn, which occurred during the Winter Solstice. Move forward with your side projects that have big potential, go for the promotion, network with bigger plans for yourself in mind. The planets are currently aligned for this work!

Because Saturn rules Capricorn, it’s back home. This moon brings a novel theme of rules and control, which will not only be observed at the micro, personal level but also on the macro (governments, bureaucratic workplaces, etc.). Saturn in Capricorn calls for transparent leadership and will likely result in more social control, which can lead to massive (and also greatly positive) resistance. When considering what is going on around us— political and Hollywood scandals, the battle over net neutrality, increasingly tense debates over foreign relations and immigration laws— it seems as though we will be slowly evolving down the path of higher consciousness that’s good for all and not just a small few.

This full moon and its connection to integrity and transparency due to Saturn and Capricorn calls us to be impeccable with our word. What you put out into the universe— be it verbally, or by intention— has power. A new year resembles a new slate. How do you want to use this new beginning? Can you speak to yourself with kindness instead of hate? Can you show more compassion to others? Do you think before you speak? Do your words harm or make a positive difference? Do you follow through on what you say you are going to do?

Get clear on what you want to manifest this year with this roll-on blend that helps you speak your truth. This blend features essential oils that support Vishuddha, the throat chakra.

How-To: Add 3 drops german chamomile, 4 drops ginger, and 2 drop rosemary into a 10ml roller bottle. Top off with carrier oil of your choice. Use on pulse points and on throat.

Start the Year Right with Intuition

The new year’s full moon occurs in the sign of Cancer. Cancer rules our moods and emotions. And, full moons heighten our perceptual abilities and for some— the probability of psychic downloads. Sensitivity may come up for you. As you let go of 2017 and enter 2018, renewal and reflection may cause mixed emotions and hypersensitivity. For some, coping with this energy means it’s ideal to stay with family a little while post-Holidays. Stay unplugged and enjoy some more time off work e-mail. Or maybe, you are maintaining better energetic boundaries by saying ‘no’ to some New Year’s gatherings and parties in order to stay close to home and self-care. Whatever you need to do to feel secure, do it with no shame or judgement. Trusting your gut about what to do, who to see, and where to spend your energy and attention never leads you astray.

Tap into the moon’s Cancer energy by heightening your own daily care. For me, I enjoy taking the time to pamper myself and transform my bathroom into a spa. Here’s a DIY body scrub with warming essential oils that’s sure to slough off your 2017 skin and bring you into the new year with a fresh glow.

How-To: Add 2 drops sandalwood, 3 drops frankincense, and 5 drops lavender into an ounce of sea salt and unrefined sugar. Add a dollop of jojoba oil and gently scrub on skin when showering.

2018 rings in merry and bright!  The first full moon of the year, also known as the full Wolf Moon, occurs on New Year’s Day. It also happens to be the largest moon of the entire year. January 2018 brings us three magical lunations— two of which are full, supermoons! So, what exactly does this mean for the year to come? This full supermoon fosters closure, deep intuitive feelings, and moving forward with big projects.

Traditionally, January’s full moon is known as the Wolf Moon because Native American tribes recognized packs who howled in the famine during the moon’s rising. This month is really special because there will be another full moon (and supermoon!) occurring later in the month, which is known as a Blue Moon. You’ve probably heard the expression, ‘Once in a Blue Moon’ signifying the rarity of such a lunar event.

One could surmise that 2018 is going to be a year jam-packed with good energy and vibrating higher.

As Neptune enters Pisces, (think water), my mantra is to be present and go with the flow in 2018!

  1. “With it hopefully comes to a renaissance of getting dirty in nature and understanding how plants can heal the mind, body, and soul.” Of course!

  2. Such a wonderful overview of our connections with the environment, planets, stars, and moon. Interestingly the other night, on New Year’s Eve, I went out for a short time with my husband to the perfect little bar/restaurant close to us where we had some hot buttered rum, and I enjoyed the plethora of plants hanging above and around us! It was ideal! Then my husband tried to get me to go somewhere else to meet friends who were not willing to come our way. I opted to be dropped off. I felt the time out had been perfect, and I was tired and not in the mood to do more than that. Now, after reading this, I am assured it is okay and healthier to listen to our inner voice and bodies. Happy New Year! 🌚💕☯️~Anne
