The ruby symbolizes the sensual, divine and spiritual love. It has long been associated with ardent, passionate feelings and wearing ruby brings a sense of vitality to one’s energy field. It can be used on the heart or root chakra. When used on the heart chakra, its focus is unconditional love for others and nature. When used on the root chakra, its focus is to encourage you to express your true self, your divine essence, as it amplifies and increases your chi or prana.
In the Kundalini tradition, it is considered a powerful manifestation stone. It is associated with the rising of the Kundalini energy up the spine and to the crown of the head, imparting bliss.
Ruby has been used throughout time as a protective amulet. During the plague in the Middle Ages the wealthy would carry a ruby to keep a close eye on its color— if the ruby became darker, they would flee to another area in order to protect themselves against infection and not return until the stone went back to its lighter shade.
“THE RUBY SYMBOLIZES SENSUAL, DIVINE AND SPIRITUAL LOVE. IT HAS LONG BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH ARDENT, PASSIONATE FEELINGS AND WEARING RUBY BRINGS A SENSE OF VITALITY TO ONE’S ENERGY FIELD.”
Physically it is said to strengthen the immune system, heart, and circulation. Some people wear a ruby to combat low blood pressure.
Because this is such an energizing stone, some sensitive people may find it over-stimulating and uncomfortable to wear. So if giving ruby as a gift, be sure and keep the receipt, as the gift recipient may have to return it for something more calming. However, if you know someone that has been lethargic and unmotivated, the gift of rubies might be the kick in the ass they need to get going!
