Ritual Uses of Psychoactive Nightshades in Ancient & Contemporary Paganism

by Sarah Anne Lawless

Discover the religious and magical uses of the famous nightshades belladonna, Brugmansia, datura, henbane, mandrake, Scopolia, and tobacco long associated with witchcraft, madness, and murder. These sacred plants have been in continuous use by humans since prehistory and are simultaneously some of the deadliest poisons and most potent medicines on earth. This workshop will cover the history, folklore, chemistry, growing information, herbal preparations, and ancient and modern medicinal applications. After the lore portion, we will perform some practical trance work techniques to use in combination with nightshade herbs.
