Welcome to the Crone Moon……A moon cycle filled with magick, deep wisdom, and a cycle which asks you to stay receptive and open as the seasons wane. The Crone stirs you into her cauldron to be alchemized and transformed. This cycle is not for the faint of heart, and as it lands in the s
The Hunter’s Moon is so named because plenty of moonlight is ideal for hunters shooting migrating birds in Northern Europe. The name is also said to have been used by Native Americans as they tracked and killed their prey by autumn moonlight, stockpiling food for the winter ahead.
Traditional association with feasting:
In the northern hemisphere, Hunter’s Moon appears in October or November, usually in October. Traditionally, it was a feast day in parts of western Europe and among some Native American tribes, called simply the Feast of the Hunter’s Moon, though the celebration had largely died out by the 18th century. There is a large historical reenactment by that name in Lafayette, Indiana during the early part of October 2010
Variation in time of Moonrise:
In general, the moon rises about 50 minutes later each day, as it moves in orbit around Earth. All full moons rise around the time of sunset. The Harvest Moon (full moon closest to the Autumnal Equinox) and Hunter’s Moon are special because — as seen from the northern hemisphere — the time of moonrise on successive evenings is shorter than usual. The moon rises approximately 30 minutes later, from one night to the next, as seen from about 40 degrees N. latitude, for several evenings around the full Hunter’s or Harvest Moons.
Thus there is no long period of darkness between sunset and moonrise, around the time of these full moons. In times past, this feature of these autumn moons was said to help hunters tracking their prey (or, in the case of the Harvest Moon, farmers working in the fields). They could continue tracking their prey (or bringing in their crops) by moonlight even when the sun had gone down. Hence the name Hunter’s Moon.
The reason for the shorter-than-usual rising time between successive moonrises around the time of the Harvest and Hunter’s Moon is that the orbit of the Moon makes a narrow-angle with respect to the horizon in the evening in autumn, leading the Moon to higher positions in the sky each successive day.
Brightness and distance:
The Hunter’s Moon is not brighter, smaller or yellower than during other times of the year, but all full moons have their own special characteristics, based primarily on the whereabouts of the ecliptic in the sky at the time of year that they are visible.
The full moons of September, October and November, as seen from the northern hemisphere — which correspond to the full moons of March, April and May as seen from the southern hemisphere — are well known in the folklore of the sky.
Since the Moon’s sidereal period differs from its synodic period, the perigee of the Moon (the point where it is closest to the Earth) does not stay in sync with the phases of the Moon. Thus the Hunter’s Moon does not correspond to any special timing of the Moon’s distance from the Earth. This is why the Hunter’s Moon is not, in general, brighter than any other regular full moon.
October’s full moon is often referred to as the Blood Moon or Sanguine Moon. The Blood Moon takes its name not from blood sacrifices, but from the old custom of killing and salting down livestock before the Winter months made it impossible to feed them. Only the choicest stock was kept through the cold season.
The leaves are falling from trees, the deer are fattened, and it’s time to begin storing up meat for the long winter ahead. Because the fields were traditionally reaped in late September or early October, hunters could easily see fox and other animals that come out to glean from the fallen grains.
Coming right before Samhain, it’s a time when the nights are crisp and clear, and you can sense a change in the energy around you.
This is the time when the veil between our world and the spirit world are at its thinnest. Use this time for spiritual growth — if there’s a deceased ancestor you wish to contact, this is a great month to do it. Hold a séance, work on your divination, and pay attention to messages you get in your dreams.
Probably because of the threat of winter looming close, the Blood Moon is generally accorded with special honor, historically serving as an important feast day in both Western Europe and among many Native American tribes.
The Blood moon focuses around connecting with animals, and our animal totems and guides. Those who practice looking at the degrees of the lunar cycle may realize that this is the last time the moon will be at a later degree. This conjunction will allow many to look at life differently every time the new moon approaches and allowing us to look at past and the future at the same time.
In the ancient Roman calendar, October was the name of the eighth month of the year. Its name comes from octo, the Latin word for “eight.” When the Romans converted to a 12-month calendar, they tried to rename this month after various Roman emperors, but the name October stuck.
In Old England, the month was called Winmonath, which means “wine month,” for this was the time of year when wine was made. The English also called it Winterfylleth, or “Winter Full Moon.” They considered this full Moon to be the start of winter.
A warm October is said to be a sign of a cold February. If leaves wither on the trees and fail to fall to the ground in autumn, it indicates a frosty winter with a great deal of snow, alternatively:
“If October brings heavy frosts and winds,
then will January and February be mild.”
The October Moons
The full moon closest to the Autumn Equinox is called the Harvest Moon, and as such, it sometimes falls in October. This moon is also called the Blood Moon, Hunters Moon, Shedding Moon or the Falling Leaf Moon. Coming right before Samhain, it’s a time when the nights are crisp and clear, and you can sense a change in the energy around you.
The Blood Moon takes its name not from blood sacrifices, but from the old custom of killing and salting down livestock before the Winter months made it impossible to feed them. Only the choicest stock was kept through the cold season.
Today we still subconsciously begin to make preparations for the coming Winter during this time. We check the antifreeze and tires for the car, gather up garden hoses, and make plans to winterize any drafty spots around doors and windows in the house. Some of us do and an ambitious fall cleaning.
Throughout this month, festivals for the dead increase with the waning light, and late harvest festivals continue. The latter often include propitiation to ensure that the Goddess’s abundance will keep people whole through harsh or barren times.
Magical efforts accentuated by October’s characteristics include clearing away old, unnecessary things or habits so that our mind, body, and spirit are prepared for winter. Any spells for memory, especially commemorating loved ones, are apt. Beyond this, metaphysical efforts for health, luck, and debt paying seem common, ensuring that winter, the season of rest and death, will come and go with the least negative effect.
The Greek festival of Thesmophoria came every year in honor of Demeter and was confined to women only. This was a three-day remembrance of Kores return to the Underworld. At this festival, the initiates shared a sacred barley drink and cakes. One feature of the Thesmophoria was a deterrent to offenders against the sacred laws against women. Priestesses read a list of the offenders before the doors of the goddesses’ temples, especially the temples of Demeter and Artemis. It was believed that anyone so cursed would die before the year ended.
The first day of the Thesmophoria was the kathodos, a ritual where purified priestesses took sacrificed piglets deep into the chasm where the sacred inner shrine of Demeter was. They left the piglets there and retrieved the remains of the one from the previous year. The second day was Nesteia, during which the remains of the retrieved piglets were displayed on the altar. Courts were closed in honor of Demeter as law-giver. On the third day, the retrieved piglets were sown into the plowed Earth as a symbol of Demeter’s fertility aspect.
The Greeks also honored the god Hephaestus with an annual festival called Chalkeia.
In Tibet, the Buddhist Lent occurred along with the Descent from Heaven festival which celebrated the end of the rainy season.
The Durga Puja in India honors the goddess Durga for four days beginning on the New Moon. It is a time of family reuntions, settling quarrels, and honoring the parents. In northern India, this festival is known as Dasahara. Durga is considered a matriarchal figure and is very popular with the people. She is shown with many arms and in bright colors.
The Lakshmi Puja, or Diwalii, is a fest of lights in honor of the goddess Lakshmi. It occurs right after the Durga Puja. During this Festival of Lights, lamos are everywhere, good things to eat are produced, and Hindu wives dance for their husbands. Lakshmi, wife of Vishnu, is considered the goddess of wealth and prosperity.
In the Pacific Ocean, the ancient Hawaiians celebrated a four-month long festival called Makahiki, beginning of the first Full Moon of this month. The god Lono had a special celebration of five days during this time, filled with games, pageantry, the hula, surfing, feasting, and tax collecting.
Venus and Mars begin a new cycle in Virgo in October, symbolizing the eternal dance between feminine and masculine, receptive and assertive, light and dark, negative and positive, yin and yang.
These polarities are interdependent – neither can exist without the other – and they are equal in value. At times various cultures may ascribe more value to one quality or another (for example, matriarchal cultures may value the peace-seeking qualities of Venus where warrior cultures will value the aggressive energy of Mars), but in their purest form, they are equal and balanced.
Finding a balance between two polarities is an important part of the astrological symbolism – the twelve zodiac signs consist of six pairs of opposites and each pair requires the other to balance and integrate. The same is true of Venus and Mars. Venus is receptive – it represents the force of magnetic attraction. Under the influence of Venus, we attract lovers, money, and other good things, and we learn how to increase that power of attraction by the way in which we interact with the people and things around us. Mars, however, goes after what it wants. Mars is the principle of action and motivation, and when the principle of action is thwarted frustration results so Mars also traffics in anger and rage.
In relationships, Venus makes sacrifices for the sake of peace and harmony where Mars seeks personal gratification and the meeting of one’s own needs. Both are equally important although we sometimes tend to value one over the other.
The conjunction, the meeting of the two planets, is the beginning of a new Venus/Mars cycle. Like a New Moon, new planetary cycles offer a fresh beginning. This is an opportunity to find a new balance in our relationships – to learn how to ask for what we need if we lean more towards the Venusian side, and to learn to compromise and empathize if we are more Martian in nature.
The current Venus/Mars cycle that begins this week will last through the next conjunction in August 2019. During that time Venus will retrograde (appear to move backwards) between October 4, 2018, and November 16, 2018, offering an opportunity for a re-do in areas where our efforts to achieve balance have been less successful.
Mars and Venus are often expressed in our relationships with others, but they also are important in our relationship to ourselves. Just as we strive to balance Mars and Venus in our outer lives, we need also to find that balance within as well.
Pluto is shining a laser beam right now that will continue throughout the months of September and October. Pluto is the Lord of the Underworld of the Psyche, and when its influence is powerful as it is right now there is a tendency for the dark underbelly of the collective psyche to be revealed.
If like me Pluto is activating your personal chart, you are likely to experience a higher level of intensity and confrontation than usual as Pluto works to strip away our false selves to reveal the Truth that lies beneath over the next few months.
The other big piece of astrological news is the deconstruction and pressure for radical change that is the dance between Jupiter and Uranus. Both of these planets seek change and liberation, but in this cycle, they are in a challenging aspect to each other which can be somewhat destabilizing as part of us yearns for change, yet change is occurring in a manner that is unexpected and perhaps undesired.
Under this influence, change can be uncomfortable for many of us. It’s not unusual to be unhappy with an aspect of our lives yet be unwilling or afraid to create the upheaval required to make a change. A planetary aspect like this can motivate and inspire us to let go a little bit and let that magic happen!
RUNE OF THE MONTH: Mannaz “the Self, community”. Knowing ourselves, our talents, our weaknesses, our potential is essential to establish solid connections. We each exist as a complete whole, but our relations to others are what define us. Community provides exchange, confrontation, growth and evolution. Let us be aware that our individual choices determine the fate of the whole of humanity.

Jupiter enters Scorpio on Tuesday 10/10 till November 9, 2018. This coming year could bring about great revelations with regard to organized religion, the role of the church, the true face of mass immigration and new metaphysical phenomena. We might witness major educational reforms, dramatic legal changes, as well as the rise of intolerance, spiritual dogmatism and political extremism. On the bright side, greater generosity of spirit and more compassion will also emerge. We shall gain a deeper understanding on how to create good situations in our lives, attract supportive people, as well as generate the abundance we need by using our thoughts and emotions in a more disciplined and positive way. Traveling to places having a profound spiritual significance to us personally as a result of past lives becomes more actual.
Uranus remains retrograde this whole month until January 2nd, 2018. Its shadow period will last until April 19, 2018. The degrees traveled this month (27º15’- 26º03’ Aries) are associated with the Sabian Symbols with the following images: “A large audience confronts the performer who disappointed its expectations” and “Through imagination, a lost opportunity is regained”. A month to stop waiting for other people or outer circumstances to change our reality. By taking full responsibility for our thoughts, our emotions and their consequences, we become truly independent individuals, masters of our own destiny. Time being circular and not linear, we can change our future, but also our past by living our present with more wisdom and consciousness.
Neptune remains retrograde this whole month. Its shadow period lasts until March 13, 2018. The degrees traveled this month (12º10’- 11º37’ Pisces) are represented by: “An ancient sword, used in many battles, is displayed in a museum” and “In the sanctuary of an occult brotherhood, newly initiated members are being examined and their character tested”. Enlightenment comes from a deep knowingness that we are all one and that hiding less desirable aspects of ourselves is futile. The pace of evolution is accelerating at a furious speed, making it more and more difficult to put on a mask. Destroying another means destroying ourselves. In order to raise our consciousness, we need to walk our talk with absolute integrity, in love and transparency. Our spiritual family is calling to us and we are likely to reconnect with long lost brothers and sisters for a task greater than ourselves.

This month’s intentional meditation starts on Thursday 10/5 with the Full Moon in Aries (Harvest Moon). Make sure that at 11:40 AM, you have taken out as many blank sheets as you will have intentions to be charged by the rays of the Full Moon on a balcony, in a garden, or by a window. Once that moment has passed, put them away in a folder.
On Thursday 10/19 on the New Moon in Libra, take out your blank full moon charged papers and write on each a concise, positive intention. Place them on a balcony, in a garden or near a window so that they are out by exactly 12:12 PM. Once that moment has passed, staple them together and put them away in a folder expecting the manifestation of all your dreams…

Mercury turns direct on Tuesday, September 5 at 4:30 AM at 28º30’ Leo. The shadow period (the time it takes for Mercury to return to its original position during which we still feel the effects of the retrogradation even if more mildly) lasts until September 19. The degree Mercury turns direct on is symbolized by: “A mermaid emerges from the ocean, ready for rebirth in human form”. During the past few weeks, we have had to re-evaluate what/whom we trusted, reassess our creativity, become clear in our love relationships and connect differently to our creations and our children. The time has now come to give birth to ourselves in a new form.
Uranus remains retrograde this whole month until January 2nd, 2018. Its shadow period will last until April 19, 2018. The degrees traveled this month (28º11’-27º17’ Aries) are associated with the Sabian Symbols with the following images: “The music of the spheres” and “A large disappointed audience”. As time goes, since the end of the Mayan Calendar that occurred on Dec 21, 2012, there is a larger and larger gap forming between those who have chosen ascension and those who haven’t. Those who have chosen the path of individuation and enlightenment are experiencing more and more synchronicities, magic, miracles and are able to see the beauty of this world, while those who did not answer or recognize the call, are finding themselves deeper and deeper in the midst of roller-coaster events threatening their safety, their joy, and their peace. Like the different wavelengths of a radio, these realities exist in parallel. We need to remember our capacity to choose the reality we truly want our lives to evolve in.
Neptune remains retrograde this whole month. Its shadow period lasts until March 13, 2018. The degree traveled this month (12º58’-12º11’ Pisces) is represented by: “A sword, used in many battles, in a museum”. The most powerful weapon is not made of steel. It is love itself, wisdom, consciousness, awareness, compassion, and forgiveness. A month to remember that truth, and walk our talk with dignity, honor, and elegance in peace and harmony with all that is.
Pluto remains retrograde this whole month until September 28. Its shadow period continues until January 19, 2018. It turns direct at 16º51’ Capricorn. This degree is represented by “A girl surreptitiously bathing in the nude”. Standing in our power does not necessarily require calling attention to ourselves. The best protection in the face of adversity is often, to tell the truth, and be absolutely transparent. It is beautiful to shine the beauty of who we are, but it could also disturb some. In some cases, it may be wise to shield our light and wear our cloak of invisibility.

This month’s intentional meditation starts on Wednesday 9/6 with the Full Moon in Pisces. Make sure that at 0:03 AM, you have taken out as many blank sheets as you will have intentions to be charged by the rays of the Full Moon on a balcony, in a garden, or by a window. Once that moment has passed, put them away in a folder.
On Tuesday 9/19 on the New Moon in Virgo, take out your blank full moon charged papers and write on each a concise, positive intention. Place them on a balcony, in a garden or near a window so that they are out by exactly 10:30 PM. Once that moment has passed, staple them together and put them away in a folder expecting the manifestation of all your dreams…

Saturday 9/2: Mars Trine Uranus (5:13 AM)
We could feel somewhat restless and impatient today. A wonderful transit to seek activities that are stimulating to the mind and/or challenging to the body. New social contacts are exciting. Unusual or unexpected circumstances open new levels of freedom in our lives. Let us, however, exercise caution when operating a motor vehicle or using sharp objects.
Sunday 9/3: Mercury Conjunct Mars (2:39 AM)
Today, communications are witty, combative and direct. Best to stay away from situations that could potentially degenerate in battle. We should be careful while driving, as reactions could be impulsive. Our energy is best channeled in athletic activities and projects requiring initiative and dynamic energy.
Monday 9/4: Sun Opposition Neptune (10:28 PM)
A feeling of floating in vagueness could mark today’s energies. We could be somewhat dreamy, lack ambitions and a strong sense of purpose. We are more sensitive than usual to the plight of others. Our compassion could draw us to helping someone less fortunate than ourselves or taking care of an animal in need. A day otherwise best spent in serenity, reading an inspiring book, enjoying water or creating art.
Tuesday 9/5: Mars enters Virgo (2:35 AM till 10/23), Mercury turns direct (4:30 AM)
During the next 6 weeks, Virgo natives are favored. Actions are more selfless, detailed, and practical. A wonderful time to start a new exercise program and adopt a healthy diet. Regarding Mercury turning direct, kindly refer to the opening paragraph.
Saturday 9/9: Sun Trine Pluto (3:41 AM), Mercury enters Virgo (7:52 PM till 9/30)
A day to stand in our power. Our authority is more readily recognized by others than at any other time. Cooperation is thus easily achieved, bringing success to joint efforts. During the next 3 weeks, our minds are sharp, practical and detail oriented. We think selflessly and communicate with intelligence, seriousness and an attention to facts and figures.
Tuesday 9/12: Venus Trine Saturn (5:49 PM)
We face even boring social situations with grace, dignity, and patience. A wonderful day to visit an elderly person, attend a professional gathering or make a duty call. A good day to either end a romantic relationship that has been shaky for a while or commits to it with full awareness of its strengths and weaknesses. Great also for being very grounded in the use of our resources and solidifying our financial situation.
Wednesday 9/13: Sun Square Saturn (7:58 PM)
We could feel frustrated in our efforts. Someone may fail to honor an agreement. Obstacles could arise. Falls, bruises or the need for dental work might occur. A day requiring hard work and discipline. We are being tested in our resolve and need to respond to challenges and responsibilities with both dignity and efficiency.
Friday 9/15: Venus Sextile Jupiter (12:44 PM)
A wonderful day to attend an elegant or fun social event. Our happy disposition and cheerful tolerance open many doors, and if single, could bring an enriching romantic opportunity. As long as we remain moderate and grounded, a positive opportunity brings financial abundance.
Saturday 9/16: Mercury Conjunct Mars (12:01 PM)
Kindly refer to Sunday 9/3.
Sunday 9/17: Venus Trine Uranus (9:25 PM)
We are attracted to exciting people, new circumstances, unusual artistic activities. Our style could change. Our tastes are more modern with a touch of eccentricity. A love relationship begun today is stimulating but may end as quickly as it started. An existing romance could go through a surprising change. Finances fluctuate, bringing sudden, unexpected gains.
Tuesday 9/19: Venus enters Virgo (6:15 PM till 10/14), Mercury Opposition Neptune (8:50 PM)
During the next 3 weeks, we express our love in practical ways. We selflessly wish to help those in need, emotionally creating order where there was chaos. Today, more specifically, we are dreamy and unfocused. Not a good day to sign legally binding documents as we could miss some of the fine print. We could feel somewhat apathetic, may need to lay low, and are likely to be mentally more sensitive than usual to noise or bright lights. Excellent however for unusual artistic creativity that expands the limits of the possible. Water has a soothing effect on our thoughts and emotions.
Friday 9/22: Mercury Trine Pluto (10:59 AM), the Sun enters Libra (1:02 PM till 10/23)
Our authority is recognized. Our power and determination win the support of others to our ideas. We express our thoughts with a strength, an integrity and a courage that win the respect of those who can help us further our projects. Our words carry the depth and the magic to create new situations. During the next four weeks, we seek peace, balance, and harmony. We are drawn to fairness, moderation, and understanding both sides of a conflict. We want justice and walking in beauty feels attractive.
Sunday 9/24: Mars Opposition Neptune (12:50 PM)
People, circumstances, projects could feel somewhat surreal. We could easily drift in a dream, get caught in an illusion and be deceived by a misrepresented situation. Our motives should be transparent and our efforts focused on actively helping others in practical ways. Important to stay as grounded as possible.
Monday 9/25: Mercury Square Saturn (7:36 AM)
Today, we could feel quite drained, discouraged, unduly pessimistic and overly serious. Our opinions are best kept to ourselves and our energy
should be used in an absorbing task requiring keen attention to details. Not a good day to seek the support or recognition of others. Loneliness could prove heavier than ever. Essential to draw on self-sufficiency to complete the work at hand which seems more tedious than usual.
Wednesday 9/27: Jupiter Opposition Uranus (9:24 PM)
We could get involved in a task proving to be more than we can chew. A major turning point that could feel quite unstable. We are completing a book in our lives and starting a completely new one. Precipitation or impatience should be avoided at all costs. An old relationship could be severed, while a new one proves magnetic, exciting and stimulating. Not a good day to buy equipment, nor for a long distance trip that could be quite unusual and turn out to be totally different from what we expected. Today, things could change on a dime and not necessarily for the better.
Thursday 9/28: Pluto turns direct (12:33 PM)
Kindly refer to the opening paragraph.
Friday 9/29: Venus Opposition Neptune (5:12 PM), Mercury enters Libra (5:42 PM till 10/17)
A relationship too good to be true could just be so, strangely dissolving into nothingness. Confusion, deception, disappointment could occur. Financial matters are elusive. More than ever, it is important to stay away from getting rich quick schemes. During the next 3 weeks, our communications, the way we express ourselves and think are more balanced. We seek peace, tolerance, and beauty. Harmonious relationships are important topics of interest. Our esthetic tastes change.
Wishing you a wonderful month of September!

THE NEW MOON AND TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE IS MONDAY AUGUST 21 AT 12:30 PM MOUNTAIN DAYLIGHT TIME (MDT).
This is the big one we have all been talking about. Some of you are determined to be in a place where you can see and witness the totality and many of you will simply be in its energy or see a partial view. It really does not matter energetically, only psychologically.
But with that said, this is definitely a time to honor a marker of huge change and the agent of a massive reset. Even if you have been working with these energies now for the past weeks, it is always good to honor the exact time frame around this event.
What can you do?
Be aware, though a list or a mental awareness, of what you are resetting. Do something that symbolizes coming into a still point, an unplugging, a dropping into the void. (if you have the monthly Mp3 you can use the exercise on it)
Acknowledge the absence of the sun and solar energy as it is eclipsed from the earth for those few moments as symbolizing the absence of what has been feeding old patterns and beliefs for you these past years and maybe your whole lifetime.
As the eclipse recedes and the sun comes back, imagine that it is feeding and nourishing and energizing a new you, one that has been reset to a new vibration, a new consciousness, a new frequency.
Leo New Moon/Total Solar Eclipse
Sun and Moon in Leo ~ 29º
Monday, August 21, 2017, 12:30 PM Mountain Time
(August 21, 2017, 6:30 PM Greenwich Mean Time)
I loved hearing the President of the United States say we needed to open our hearts and love each other in his speech today. No truer words could be spoken at this time. Let’s make the most of this alignment of the Sun, Moon and precious Earth. Leo, the Lion, the King, rules the New Moon cycle so powerfully aligned with a Total Solar Eclipse. Leo is your power, your purpose, and your joy in creating your life from your essence, your heart. The Sun at the center of our solar system is our source of life and rules only one sign ~ Leo.
The eclipse is highlighting some area of your chart, and in that ‘house’ you are feeling the pull and pressure to reset a part of your life. A profound release is being experienced by many. We are such creatures of habit and we don’t surrender the familiar easily. Others find themselves birthing the children of their creativity or realizing how they create their own lives. Although Leo is our most regal, authoritative, kingly/queenly part of our self, it also rules the fifth house of the zodiac, the house of children and hence our playful, creating, pleasure-loving selves, the risk taking and generous, loving part of our natures. Investments, speculation, the Big Gamble also fall under Leo’s rulership – win big/lose big or you have to risk in order to gain – that’s Leo’s way. Pour some flamboyant on it and have some fun. Do it because you enjoy it.crystalwind.ca
The North Node, our point of growth, creates the Leo eclipse. Here is the theme of the sacred masculine intensified by the presence of Mars in Leo. Exactly conjunct the eclipse, one of the four Royal stars, Regulus in the constellation Leo located in the ‘heart of the lion’, rules the direction of North – the outer masculine where we show up in the world with integrity and generosity for all our relations and Mother Earth. The direction of courage, strength, and wisdom is where we go deep within our hearts and listen like a tree standing in winter to all that has gone before that has brought us to this moment. We all are healing our masculine, experiencing how we show up in the world, and calling on Spirit to support us in walking a balanced path healing what is out of balance.
The shadow side of Leo reveals the King/Queen, the Hero/Heroine within to be self-centered, childish, bullying, and dictatorial stubbornly insisting on their righteousness, but revealing their hurting, angry and immature underbelly. Cowardly, full of doubt and unequipped to face their fear, Leo is clearly dramatizing all around us some of the darker aspects of the Queen/King so we can reset at this turning point how we hold our personal power and understand just what is that thorn stuck in our paw.
With both Saturn and Uranus in a supportive and cooperative relationship with our new Leo cycle, look to attending to your hard realities and focused action (Saturn) for getting traction out of the pressures that an eclipse season accentuate. Saturn in Sagittarius says ‘walk the path of what has to mean to you; look at the big picture; be tolerant, get grounded, and manifest spirit in all you do. Hard truths, though not the easiest to swallow, often lead to the most movement and growth in life. Saturn is working more closely with the Mars than the Sun so we are energized to get the show on the road and lean into the work that will bring manifestation. With so many planetary bodies retrograde (pesky Mercury, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Chiron, Eris, Juno), there’s a feeling of not having our energy completely under us, we can’t quite get fully launched, inertia is weighing heavy on us.
What does Uranus add to the dance? The inspiration of fire, a gratifying shatter of the old ways, CHANGE! FREEDOM! When the Sun reappears after the eclipse, we can welcome our awakening, kick the ego to the curb, and get our weird on. Uranus is happy to fuel our cooperation by breaking down walls of all kinds that separate us. We can heed Saturn’s call AND throw in with Uranus all at the same time. Uranus is the most exact aspect has us on a fast track to the future fueling both technology and revolutionary movements.
The other exact aspect of this chart is Pluto at 17º Capricorn opposing Ceres in Cancer 17º. It represents the shadow side of the patriarchy/matriarchy separation, the classical mythology of abduction of the daughter and the mother’s grief, rage and rampage under the powerlessness felt to protect her daughter. It’s clear our mandate is to heal this core wounding and balance this polarity within our selves, partnerships, and the way we see the world in order to bring ourselves into our own integrated love. Let’s hope this solar eclipse triggers a mega forgiveness festival where the dance is letting go of that old drama. Can the feminine forgive the masculine for oppression and holding them out as superior and the most powerful? Can the masculine acknowledge the feminine as strong, wise and of equal power?
As we pass through this magnificent masculine Leo portal of fire emphasized by two New Moons at 0º and 29º, watch for shifts and events being set off when a planet triggers these degrees like Sept. 3 when Mars hits that 29º Leo point, the week of Sept 1-8 Mercury is at a standstill at that point when it goes directly on Sept 5th, Sept 18th Venus 29º Leo, or Nov 20 when the Scorpio Sun squares that 29º Leo eclipse point. Often these are the times when the pressure we feel now can be released.
So, you find yourself in one of the major transformative periods of modern times, well, your tool bag – right there in your heart – has never been more full. What we feed now is what will grow.
The Lion, King of Beasts, is on center stage!
All times are in Mountain Standard Time (MST)
- 08/22 Sun enters Virgo 4:21 PM MDT

Eclipses are the most powerful transits that you can experience. They herald major beginnings and endings, burning and purifying.
Solar eclipses tend to create new beginnings and bright new opportunities.
Usually, they are exciting, are often very positive, and bring news out of the blue.
August 21st, 2017, we will be experiencing one of the most powerful and significant total solar eclipses of our lifetime. Its path of totality goes right across the United States from coast to coast. This eclipse has been on the radar for both astronomers and astrologers for years and has been dubbed ‘The Great American Eclipse.
It’s the first total solar eclipse to be visible coast-to-coast across the U.S. in nearly 100 years; the last time was in June 1918.
This Solar Eclipse, is immensely significant and positive in so many ways, in the sign of Leo, it represents a marked improvement in the good life for us all. Our quality of life will dramatically improve, as well as developing our sense of self, self will and personal power, feeling proud of who we are. This is heart opening energy.
Eclipses are doorways, quantum choice points. What we hold in our thought and intention at these times reverberates throughout time, space and all dimensions.
It contains the tremendous possibility to leap into new ways of being in our lives. It is a zero-point of potential – a time out of time – with unknown wild-card outcomes and permutations of reality waiting to be seized.
As the Sun is darkened by the shadow of the Moon, our intuition (the Moon) – wordless and irrational – overpowers your creative center and power (the Sun). The result is a bit like a short-circuit of your internal wiring. The fundamental laws of the universe no longer apply as the Sun’s light is temporarily darkened. The world is shrouded in an apprehensive silence that you can almost hear. At the solar eclipse, something is trying to get your attention, this is the time when magic can happen.
If you think of the astrological system as a computer, eclipses are those moments when the divine disk drive writes a new code to the magnetic surface of life. There is, at the same time, the possibility to erase certain ideas and influences for good. The script will be re-written and the script writer and co-creator is you.
The Sun and Moon, conjoined in Leo are urging us to explore our hearts and brings warmth and light, to encourage us to stand up for what we believe in. We will be infused with the qualities of the fire sign of Leo which is, forceful, magnetic, generous, impulsive and has a strong and ardent desire to be loved and to give love.
Leo is moved through the heart rather than through reason. Like the lion, Leo is commanding, resolute, courageous, and high-spirited, sometimes boastfully asserting his superiority. Leo’s warmth and kindness are of the type which a good king has towards its subjects.
The spot light is focused in those areas of our lives that need more abundance, success, happiness, and joy. This is a cosmic green light to enjoy the good life, to be creative, joyful and have fun, like the internal inner child within us, that Leo represents.
A major feature of this eclipse is that it is conjoined to the royal fixed star of Regulus. The brightest star in the constellation of Leo, Regulus has been almost universally associated in ancient cultures with the concept of royal or kingly power. A very beneficial Star with the qualities of Jupiter and Mars, Regulus is at 29 degrees of Leo, and his meaning is one of fame, success, honor, and wealth.
Regulus raises people to great heights of power and fame to those who deserve it. A balancing out of karma is taking place and many will be elevated into a higher realm on a spiritual and materialistic level, dramatically improving our well being and quality of life.
Regulus is also known as the Ruler, the Lawgiver. When we think of the word Regulus, it can be held as a regulator. As the name suggests, Regulus regulates or balances out karma so that people already in power, kings or Queens who have misused their power, may fall from favor and power. The effects of which can either be immediate, or the process will be put into motion at the eclipse, and we will see the events unfold over the next two to three months. Since the eclipse is over the USA, all eyes are on American politics, in particular, especially President Trump, whose ascendant and Mars in Leo are exactly aligned with this eclipse.
This eclipse is heralding in a new era, as the fixed star Regulus moved into the sign of Virgo (though still in the constellation of Leo) after 2000 years in 2011.
This is the first solar eclipse conjoined to Regulus since then, marking a shift in power over the next 2000 years, which will be to governed less by the royal decreed of law, which signifies the old and dying order of the male dominated, kingly right to power towards the feminine sign of Virgo, one based on compassion, service and healing.
We are witnessing at present, many, especially in politics who are of the dying order still desperately clinging to power as we transition into this new era.
Adding to the positivity of this Solar Eclipse, it is the first solar eclipse to be conjoined to the north node in Leo since 1998 as opposed to the south node. The north node is highly beneficial and dynamic whereas an eclipse conjunct the south node often implies loss or having to let go.
As if this wasn’t enough we have yet another highly powerful and beneficial aspect as the planet of Jupiter and good fortune, makes a positive aspects the the Solar Eclipse as well as to Saturn, also taking part in the dynamic grand fire trine that is positively helping us to manifest our dreams and plans until October. Expansion and Luck will be on the Horizon quite literally. Uranus, directly aligned with the Solar Eclipse is helping us to embrace positive change.crystalwind.ca
When the Sun and the Moon meet in perfect union, astrologers call the condition Cazimi – meaning ‘in the throne’ or ‘in the heart’ of the Sun, it is the most powerful condition for a planet. It is where we collectively enter the heart of the Sun, into the royal throne room. Our emotional consciousness represented by the Moon enters a higher state, likened to having conversations with God or your higher self, taken into a room being promoted or de-promoted according to the creator.
Cazimi is considered highly fortunate as it means the Moon is literally sitting on the throne of the King. This gives her Queenly power and is often described as bestowing some kind of brilliance or genius. A Cazimi Moon (which can only happen at the time of a New Moon) is good to use if you want something to really succeed. It’s one of the highest forms of good luck.
The Sun is the King or Queen of the skies, and when a planet is invited into the royal chambers, that planet receives a purely elevating infusion of solar energy. Stimulating the response in humanity to express heart consciousness, the quality we call love. Burning away what no longer serves us, wiping the slate clean and renewing our mind, body, and spirit.
The Royal Sun is planting secrets, and when the Moon withdraws from the throne room, a re-birthing process begins. A force that bestows some with the influence to work magic and to wield power over vast amounts of people, as new kings and Queens rise, while others fall.
It’s as if the planet has the ear of the King, and can persuade the King to attend to the planet’s wishes for a time.
It’s one of the most powerful times to set your intentions.
This eclipse will have lasting effects for more than two years especially concerning the countries which the eclipse passes over.
As the Sun and the Moon conjoin in perfect unison, it is a rare chance to realign our ego with our soul self. To get the balance right, on both a personal and collective level. The Sun represents our ego and the Moon our soul.
One of the biggest transformational moments in life is to realize and understand the difference between soul and ego. A moment that can lead to enlightenment.
As you dissolve into love, your ego fades. You’re not thinking about loving; you’re just being love, radiating like the sun.
~ Ram Dass
Our soul is eternal and always present, even if you don’t always feel it or pay attention to it.
“Ego says: Once everything falls into place, I’ll feel peace.
Spirit says: Find your peace, and then everything will fall into place”.- Marianne Williamson
Some, however, may choose to live out the more negative side of Leo during this potent time, in the form of arrogance with a sense of entitlement as well as misuse of power. Venus in opposition to Pluto can mean heightened passion, especially in romance, but also power struggles. Venus in cancer wants to feel emotionally secure, and some may use the control to get what they want. Someone who feels deeply unloved and is insecure needs to ensure they are not abandoned and left behind. They need to be in control. This is their way of feeling safe and “loved”.
They become needy, increasing the control, needing to be fed “love” by seeking that external attention. Now at this eclipse, we have a rare chance to find the love within, releasing unhealthy attachments.
A person in a Soul space honors themselves. They say no to what does not serve them. They say yes to what does. They respect themselves and choose to walk away from anything that does not respect them. Once they walk away, they learn from what they were taught. They honor and respect others, they are considerate and conscientious. There is no need to be first like the ego. There is no need for competition.
Learn to listen to your soul when it speaks to you, trust in it and act on the advice it gives to you.
Your soul is a source of unconditional love, courage and strength, wisdom, and happiness and joy.
It can’t be harmed by other people’s opinions or external circumstances. It can’t be harmed by anything.
Your soul and true self, are who you are deep down below all the labels, roles, expectations and social mask. Something that doesn’t change – you are born you, and you will forever be you inherently worthwhile – you are divine energy from the Universe. Your very existence in this world is what makes you beautiful, valuable and amazing.
Where have you been playing small in your life holding yourself back? Putting others needs first? Not believing in your own magnificence and the power to co- create?
If you want to find life purpose and live a full and healthy inner life, it is essential to bring your ego-mind into a relationship with your soul-self.
We are souls having a human experience.
EGO vs SOUL
Ego seeks to serve itself,
Soul seeks to serve others.
Ego seeks outward recognition,
Soul seeks inner authenticity.
Ego sees life as a competition,
Soul sees life as a gift.
Ego seeks to preserve self,
Soul seeks to preserve others.
Ego looks outwards,
Soul looks inward.
Ego feels lack,
Soul feels abundance.
Ego is mortal,
Soul is eternal.
Ego is drawn to lust,
Soul is drawn to love.
Ego seeks wisdom,
Soul is wisdom.
Ego enjoys the prize,
Soul enjoys the journey.
Ego is cause to pain,
Soul is cause of healing.
Ego rejects God,
Soul embraces God.
Ego seeks to be filled,
Soul is eternal wholeness.

FULL MOON WITH A PARTIAL LUNAR ECLIPSE IS MONDAY, AUGUST 7 AT 12:10 PM MOUNTAIN DAYLIGHT TIME (MDT).
This is the first of the 2 eclipses bookending a time of intensity and a major opportunity for growth. The Full Moon is a perfect time to set your intentions based on what you have been able to evaluate and re-evaluate your life, where you have been and where you wish to go.
Make sure to give this more than lip service or a fleeting acknowledgment. The time you put in right now will have lasting results so don’t waste the opportunity. Also honor this Full Moon as a gateway or a portal, like opening the door to this great potential of a powerful RESET for the areas that need it in your life. This portal stays open until the full solar eclipse on August 21. The time between the 2 eclipses is very powerful and could be intense and chaotic with lots of movement and action, some difficult and unwelcome, and some, a welcome breakthrough.
Best if you really work this time to your advantage and use it well. Don’t get distracted by other peoples chaotic process. Stay to your own focus, intentions, and reevaluation. The next eclipse will be a marker for a huge reset.
Full Moon in Aquarius ~ Partial Lunar Eclipse
Sun in Leo ~ Moon in Aquarius 15º
Monday, August 7, 12:10 pm Mountain Daylight Time
(August 7, 6:10 PM Greenwich Mean Time)
Lammas or the midpoint of summer and fall is on Aquarius Full Moon this year. A powerful Leo Sun reigns over this eclipse season. Last New Moon was at 0º Leo and the next New Moon at the total solar eclipse is at 29º Leo. Eclipses magnify and increase the power of the Full and New Moons. Eclipses mark endings and new beginnings. A portal like this is a call to focus your intentions, like pausing to consult the (inner) map during a long road trip.
The Aquarius Full Moon (15º) we have now is the opening act with a very partial eclipse of the Moon visible over Europe, Northern Africa, and Asia. Here with the eclipse at the South Node is where we release the old, what has gone before and allowed the endings. The Grand Finale will be the total solar eclipse on August 21 with Sun and Moon in Leo 29º, and the Moon perfectly blocking the light of the Sun for those precious few minutes that allow the electromagnetic link to our planet to be suspended, and in that powerful letting go, we are released, cleared and renewed, and we begin again ~ an event honored by ancients as sacred and powerful. We choose from Leo the source of our courage and heart to create our lives renewed, to allow what is new to be born in us.
We will see the central path of the later solar eclipse totality crossing through middle America, heartland country, asking us all to turn our attention to the shadow side of our nation, to focus our heart powers of love and courage to heal division, blame, prejudice and to begin again to see our common goals and love of personal freedom that we hold in this country.
Let’s look at what the Aquarius Full Moon has to offer us. Here is the energy for reform and innovation with truly inspired and original, inventive solutions to tangled situations. Here too is the urge towards revolutionizing and moving forward in all areas of social change, social responsibility, and standing up for the society you want to live in. Aquarius brings a progressive point of view valuing freedom and individuality, and they welcome the unconventional while championing all beings as equal. Aquarians are future oriented; they’re progressive. As the fixed air sign, they represent powerful mental energy, not the ‘strictly info’ kind of mental, but the brilliant, intuitive and inventive cosmic download kind of genius.
Aquarius owes its brilliance and eccentricity as well as its rebellious nature to its ruler Uranus – the Awakener, the Observer, The Exile. Uranus helps us realize the future – see it, as well as simultaneously create it. See that word REAL in realize? Well, that’s what we’re called on to do now- bring the future we want down to the Earth plane.
- Revolutionize without resisting – directing strong emotional responses through our integrity and balanced judgment in this polarized world we find ourselves in.
- Create in the cosmic realms, the Quantum field, the invisible worlds, the astral and let it manifest through you into the physical world (without attachment to how it gets created – leave that to Spirit….)
- Innovate pushing the edge/boundaries of what you have done before or intuited before.
- Cooperate banding together with the like-minded and using the power of the group and the collective to wield some real power for change. Joy and healing live there – being with others and ending separation.
The eclipse window in Leo is pushing us across the bridge of ego, pushing breakdown, pushing crisis, pushing the shadow up to be heard, seen and witnessed. Uranus doesn’t care about your discomfort. It sees the long game, the future and all that can be gained by a shattering realization or crisis. Uranus tests your will to hold to your ideals. Both fanatics and humanitarians are two sides of the Uranian character. When the mental fixity and stubbornness of Aquarius takes over, huge resistance, fanaticism and cold rational thinking can prevail. We’re seeing a bit of that here in American politics-America does have an Aquarius Moon (27º) after all. The Moon in a country’s chart represents the “people”, and they are coming together as a voice to represent the humanitarian end of the spectrum (seeking to champion the poor, elderly, immigrants, gays, universal healthcare…). Notably, the solar eclipse on Aug. 21 is at 28º55’ Leo is just opposite the USA’s 27º Aquarius Moon. And as it is doing so, the “people” will be making a choice and renewing their dedication to America’s democratic ideals.
On August 2-3, Uranus began a long retrograde period until Jan 3, 2018. So, Uranus is moving extremely slowly and will spend 9 weeks at 28º Aries and is considerably stronger at this time as it changes direction. So be aware the energy of breaking free and loving your own quirky, unconventional self is about to get a booster shot. Acknowledge your restlessness with increasing grounded physical activity. Expect the unexpected and turn up your adaptability. Uranus can represent your higher cosmic self or essence. Our inner ‘witness’ will be stronger with the Aquarius Full Moon – learn from it.
Mercury in Virgo will change direction too. That means retrograde for three weeks from Aug 12 to Sept 5 (but not fully out of its shadow period until Sept 19th). Mercury, our thinking and communicating focus, is turning its attention inward giving us the bandwidth to look deeply into our lives and reevaluate our harvest, our resources, our health while seeing where we have become too perfectionistic, self-denying, and worried. Vesta traveling with Mercury reinforces going to our inner temple for guidance.
Expect Saturn to also change direction and turn direct later in the month 9/25. So as you can see, the eclipses are in a nest of shift and change. What a magnificent portal for your creativity!
This Full Moon chart is also notable for Mars in Leo traveling with the Sun. We had that at last New Moon too, and it will be still active during the solar eclipse. Mars is our assertive action-taking self, our source of passionate, instinctual energy, our masculine yang force. So we can expect the effects of adding fuel to the fire of Sun Leo making experiences a little more raw, a little more volatile, a little like having a king (Leo) with a martial presence (Mars) at his command.
Jupiter in Libra, who has been expanding our education in the fine art of relationship and diplomacy for nigh onto a year, is playing nice with the Sun and Moon. Jupiter will expand and support the themes of the Leo/Aquarius axis (self-expression/social responsibility) in our interactions and relationships with others. All the better to see ourselves reflected in the eyes of another. But an exact square to Pluto says the darker parts of our power must need to be dealt with before the ‘gifts’ of Jupiter are distributed!
The asteroid goddesses are holding down the feminine pole in this chart. Vesta, Pallas Athena, and Juno are in the Earth signs forming a Grand Trine of groundedness and support, and Ceres-Venus are in Cancer together soothing the emotional energies of this very hot and predominantly masculine chart.

The next black moon cycle begins on 23rd July 2017 with the actual black moon occurring on 21st / 22nd August 2017, which is also a solar eclipse.
Most people have heard of a blue moon but black moons tend to get less attention, despite their equal significance. Just as a blue moon is the second full moon in a solar month, a black moon is the second new moon in a solar month. This means that during the sun’s passage through one zodiac sign the moon is new twice, with the second of those moons designated a black moon. Because a new moon occurs when the moon is in the same zodiac degree as the sun, both of these new moons occur in the same sign as each other. Black moons occur roughly every two and a half to three years and are always preceded a month earlier by a new moon in the first one or two degrees of the same zodiac sign.
Is a black moon connected to Black Moon Lilith?
No, a black moon has nothing to do with Black Moon Lilith, the latter being the point on the moon’s orbit furthest from the earth (known as lunar apogee).
So what’s the significance of a black moon?
Ordinarily, and in general terms, a new moon is a time of fresh starts: the silence from which new beginnings are born. In the darkness of a new moon, we can instinctively sense the stirring of new life and prepare to facilitate its arrival. If we’re anticipating a new start or a process of change in some area of our life, contemplating its development at a new moon can be most productive. An action is not called for at this time, but instead a quiet turning within to contemplate and nurture the roots of our burgeoning creations. These roots may take many forms from material resources to significant relationships; from a well thought-through plan to faith in a process whose outcome remains unclear. Indeed, we may need all of these and more to prepare for our next step.
The seductive darkness of a new moon invites us inward to draw from our own wisdom. Our energy levels may be relatively low and it is often best to avoid commitments that require great investments of physical energy. The natural tendency in darkness is to retreat, hibernate and rest, ready for the gradual return of the light as the moon waxes towards full. The beginnings heralded by a new moon may have gestated over days, weeks, months or years. Every new moon bears personal significance for each individual, alongside its collective influence and meaning.
A black moon is a particularly powerful new moon which augurs a significant new phase. We can use its energy to prepare for shifts in our inner and outer worlds so powerful they may change the very course of our life. Each black moon signals the beginning of a new cycle which lasts until the next black moon, two and a half to three years later, so these are powerful moments in time which can markedly influence the coming years. It is therefore wise to use their energy well!
How do we use the energy of a black moon well?
We begin with the first of the two new moons – a month prior to the black moon – which helps us discern how to best use the black moon energy. This first moon is a time of intense quiet, to be spent as still as possible. A time to listen, not speak; to reflect, not act; to go within, not be drawn without. This moon invites us deep within to discover there the entire universe and know our self as a microcosm of the macrocosm – a thread woven through time and space by the unfolding of life in, through and around us. This moon prepares us to ignite, at the black moon, the sparks of creativity, wisdom, patience, fortitude, and commitment which fuel the engine of a life fulfilled.
New opportunities occurring just prior to or at this first moon may falter before they’ve begun. A much-anticipated new start may fast lose its shine leaving us discouraged and disoriented. This is a common experience at the beginning of a black moon cycle, so there’s no need for panic! The first of the two new moons is simply paving the way for the real fresh start at the black moon itself, highlighting where final adjustments may be needed and plans require a final review. We then have a month to instigate any necessary alterations before the black moon arrives and a new phase is born. Whether we sense the coming change as a gentle breeze or a mighty storm, this initial new moon encourages us to embrace the approaching unknown, allowing it to trickle or flood through our life as it must and will. We are on the brink of profound change and commitments made now will be potentised a month later by the black moon.
It can be especially difficult to open our heart to unwanted change: the end of a relationship, the loss of a job or a much-loved home, illness, death… So many things impose themselves against our will. If this is our lot at the beginning of a black moon cycle we can best use the energy of the first moon to invite faith, courage, and hope into our lives, even as they feel so far from us. Remembering that we don’t have to feel courageous to be it can be very helpful now! Simply dragging ourselves out of bed to face another lonely day may be the most courageous act in our lives. Likewise, boundless faith is not required to be faithful: merely trusting that the next breath will come, the next heartbeat, can be an act of faith when all hope is lost. And hope is not about Pollyanna happiness and positive thinking but a recognition that life moves in cycles, fluctuating within them as it goes. Everything changes, no matter how stuck and intransigent things may feel. At such times, hope simply whispers a quiet reassurance that nothing remains the same. Even the darkest, longest night eventually turns to day.
Once the black moon arrives, a shift in the fabric of the universe is underway, often manifesting as a new life theme that develops and matures across the coming two to three years. Our attention may shift to new interests and/or occupations. We may meet new people or drift from old ones. What once seemed so important to our well-being loses its appeal and we find deep inner shifts reflected in changes we once could never have contemplated. This is no ordinary new moon but the birth of a whole new phase in our life, which will unfold in ways that can be hard to predict at first, but which, in retrospect, makes perfect sense when reviewed from a vantage point of garnered wisdom in a year or so’s time. Then we can see where we were, where we are and where we’re heading in relation to the themes of the defining black moon.
So how do we identify and work with the themes of a black moon?
Each black moon occurs in the same zodiac sign as the new moon that precedes it and its themes are largely dictated by the qualities of that sign. The next black moon occurs on 21st / 22nd August 2017, with the first new moon occurring on 23rd July. This black moon is also a total solar eclipse, giving it even greater power. This is a VERY important and influential moon! Its cycle continues until the next black moon cycle in Cancer, beginning in June/July 2020.
The 2017 black moon and the solar eclipse occurs in the sign of Leo, highlighting the following issues for our reflection:
- How deeply do I dare to love myself?
- How readily do I express love and appreciation and to whom?
- How intensely am I prepared to engage with others?
- How honest am I (with myself & others) about my strengths and weaknesses, gifts and challenges?
- How well do I make room for others in my life?
- How much attention do I demand from others and do I offer the same level of attention to them?
- How well do I recognize my contributions to the lives of others and their contributions to my life?
- Do I recognize the benefits I receive from raising others up or do I demand the limelight for myself alone?
- Who am I when I’m alone? Who am I when I’m in a company?
- When I seek to lead is it because I know the terrain and can guide others with wisdom and grace, or because I need to be in a position of control?
- How do I open my heart to life and how can I open it wider?
- How do I use my divine authority? How do I respond to the divine authority of others?
- In what ways can I inspire others to be their authentic self?
- How deeply do I respect myself even when things are not going to plan?
- Does my life glorify ego or illuminate the divine?
- How well do I comfort myself in times of rejection?
If you’re familiar with your birth chart you can work with a black moon more specifically by observing where both new moons fall within it. The affairs of the house or houses in question will be of great importance during the month framed by these moons. And the house of the black moon specifically shows where in your life its themes will develop in the following two to three years. As a backdrop to this, the house in your chart ruled by the moon (that is the house with Cancer on its cusp or contained entirely within it), reveals another key area of burgeoning growth.
Furthermore, the expression of any planets within the zodiac sign in question will be both tested and amplified during the month between the two moons, revealing some of their most potent issues which will then be worked out more deeply in the ensuing two to three years. Likewise, planets aspected by the moon as it journeys from its first point of newness to its second will be triggered and potentized by the energy of a black moon cycle. This may result in some challenging moments for sure, but within those challenges profound insights await revelation, leading to the potential for significant change.
To Sum Up…
Black moons are relatively rare but precious, events which augur the birth of a significant new life cycle. Considerably more potent than your ‘average’ new moon, this cycle is a defining one in terms of our future direction and the change it augurs in our lives. A black moon comes in two parts: the first new moon which provides an opportunity to contemplate coming changes and make any necessary adjustments in current plans, and the actual black moon a month later, which signifies the birth of new beginnings and an important fresh start. If we are thirsty for change in our life, eager to discard old and tired ways to make room for new life, a black moon is our unfailing ally, providing the impetus and focus on embracing and bringing about effective and long-lasting change. If on the other hand, we fear unavoidable change, this moon holds our hand and places iron in our soul, assuring us we have what it takes to navigate difficult terrain ahead and find, in due course, more solid and fertile ground. Either way, a black moon is to be honored, respected and embraced for the bountiful gifts and opportunities it brings.

FULL MOON MEANING
Sun opposite Moon makes a full moon and highlights opposing forces or polarities in your life. These can include your ego versus emotions, your work versus home, or what you need versus what you want. Inner tension and external pressures can lead to personal conflict and crises that drain your energy.
The lunar qualities of emotions and instincts reach their peak at a full moon. Use you increased emotional strength and intuition to overcome any challenges. Subconscious awareness allows for an objective and balanced look at your personal relationships. You will clearly see any relationship dynamics or negative feelings causing disharmony.
The full moon influence lasts for two weeks and relates to the previous new moon. Your June 23 new noon goals can now be fine-tuned or completed, it is harvest time. It is time to make emotional adjustments in response to those goals.
FULL MOON JULY 2017 ASTROLOGY
The July 9 full moon at 17°09′ Capricorn is only one degree away from Pluto. This planet of power and intensity transforms through destruction and renewal. This is as powerful as a full moon can get. Emotions are already high on a full moon but now they become all-powerful, all-consuming.
Moon conjunct Pluto brings such deep and intense feelings to the surface that they can overwhelm you. You may become obsessed about your feelings and have trouble focusing on anything else. Dreams, visions, psychic impressions or intuitive insights may have a profound influence on your mood.
Interactions with women will be particularly intense and revealing. You can access to your true feelings and discover someone else’s true feelings about you. Take care not to react too strongly to overpowering feelings. Your intuition might be correct but could obscure your rational thought processes and conscious judgment skills.
In relationships you may encounter controlling and manipulative behaviors like jealousy, guilt tripping, threats, intimidation, violence or self-harm. Remove yourself from such negative and destructive people and environments. You can transcend your own challenging emotions and behaviors through meditation, self-analysis, or other technique to understand your feelings.
Sun opposite Moon makes the Moon-Pluto alignment more challenging because of the relationship tension it creates. The battles you have with other people can mirror your own inner conflict as you try to reconcile differences between what you want versus what you need.
Sun opposite Pluto brings a crisis either with self-esteem, relationships or an event. This may be due to a self-destructive character trait such as addiction, spying or stubbornness. In relationships, you may be the subject of, or the perpetrator of, manipulation, jealousy, domination or spying. Events may include the breakdown of an appliance or car, theft, violence, or the destruction of possessions by people or natural disaster.
If a crisis does happen at this time, it is important not to be overly assertive, egotistic, or resistant to change. Change may be forced upon you or you may instigate it. The aim is to transform for the better. To evolve your soul so that you may live a better life and experience more satisfaction. It will probably occur through a close relationship, such as a family member, close friend or partner.
Looking at the full moon July 2017 astrology chart shows Mars about five degrees from the Sun. There are tighter aspects to the full moon including Moon square Jupiter but the Sun-Mars alignment is way more powerful. The potential for destructive emotions and reactions has increased. Anger is added to your extremely powerful emotion and your patience is severely tested.
Mars opposite Pluto gives an intense passion for achieving your strongest desires. In this competitive spirit, you may go to great lengths to achieve victory. If you can channel such aggressive and dominating urges, the transforming nature of Pluto will bring marked achievements. Physical and creative pursuits are favored, but the competitive arena may involve business or other professional areas, where courage and strength are required.
You may have to contend with powerful forces acting against you. They will seek out weak spots in your plans and defenses. Powerful and primal energies may activate the fight or flight response. A sexual conquest at this time also comes with dangers. Your will-power and sex drive may become overbearing. If dating beware of predators and the potential for male violence or rape.
Sun conjunct Mars brings abundant energy and initiative which must be burnt up in a constructive way otherwise there can be damaging consequences. If this hot energy were to build up in your body it would be spontaneously released without control. Such release of uncontrolled hot energy would be rapid and destructive, hurting yourself or others. This negative manifestation of Mars is the most likely outcome given the opposition to Moon and Pluto.
Remaining unaware of the buildup of energy can lead to accidents, aggression, temper tantrums, and even violence or rape. You will initially notice the buildup of energy as irritation, annoyance or impatience. The best option is to consciously apply yourself to a positive form of activity. Physical activity is preferred but the brain can also burn up a lot of energy. Sex drive can go through the roof and baby making fits the role as both creative and productive.
Moon opposite Mars makes you moody and short-tempered. Little things will annoy you that you would normally ignore. Anger and a tendency to act without thinking increase the risk of minor irritations turning into arguments or fights. Being alone will stop conflict but you still need to let off steam without causing harm.
Relationships with your partner, family, and close friends are most likely to suffer from your impulsive actions and aggressive instincts. To avoid hostilities you can channel your energy toward hard work and competition. Trying to better your record in an individual sport or exercise will cut anger levels.
It is possible you could be subject to aggression from others. Abuse such as domestic violence would be a sign of not expressing your emotional desires strongly enough. If you are the submissive or shy type then full moon July 2017 may trigger a fight or flight response and an opportunity to leave a dangerous home environment.
Mercury sextile Venus offers a release valve and a way to talk yourself out of the potential conflict. It has a friendly influence, reducing stress levels and adding some harmony to your relationships. You will have greater ability to express your love and affection. Extra charm and social skills will help you find a compromise and find a peaceful resolution.
